The National Elk Reserve boarders
the south ends of Teton National Park. It isn’t a
National Park, but the next best thing. In the
Reserve, it’s possible to photograph Big Horn Sheep,
Moose and Bison all in a single morning and then
take a sleigh ride out into the Elk herd that
numbers in the thousands. The Elk are wild but do
not regard the sleighs as dangerous and allow them
to approach within a dozen feet. Just be sure to
bring enough film or batteries.
