Snow Sports and Resort Information

Grand Targhee Ski Resort is only 12 miles away with 2,000 vertical feet of skiing. It has some of the best snow in the Rockies, over 500 inches a year of dry powder. It is slated to expand greatly over the next couple of years, which leaves us with mixed emotions as being minutes away from a destination ski resort is always good for property values but we wonder if Grand Targhee will be able to maintain it is friendly down home feeling. Grand Targhee offers a terrain park for adventurous snow boarders plus one of the best beginner ski programs we have seen. We buy a family pass here every year.

Snow King Ski Resort offers long steep runs that end almost in downtown Jackson. Talk about your après ski, save me a saddle in the Cowboy Bar! Snow King is far more than just a Ski Resort with a beautiful indoor ice arena and figure skating club. It offers year round activities; our favorite is the summer time Alpine slide.

Outside Magazine has called Jackson Hole Mountain Resort the seventh best ski resort in the world. We do not know about that but we do know you had better like “steep” and you better ski inbounds if you want to get home intact. It is truly a “big boy” ski resort with 4,139 of vertical feet. This is where the beautiful people go to ski, but you had better be good.

Darby Ranch is surrounded by Cross Country Skiing, indeed the perimeter riding trail easily converts to a Cross Country Skiing trail. Want a longer run? The road into Darby Canyon is not plowed in the winter, making it private and perfect for serious Cross County Skiers.
