Grand Targhee holds two of the
most enjoyable music festivals we’ve ever attended.
Last year enjoyed both the 20th Annual Targhee
Bluegrass Festival and the third annual Targhee Fest
and we had a ball. Kids are welcome and have their
own “kidzone” to keep them occupied. 2008 will
feature Emmylou Harris, the Taj Mahal Trio, Lyle
Lovett and Tony Trischka with his Double Banjo
Bluegrass Spectacular.
The “Music on Main” is a fun program that offers a
free concert every Thursday evening in downtown
Driggs. The acts range from local to national and
it’s a chance to dance, eat, drink and visit with
your friends as most of the town turns up.
Meanwhile the music festival over
the pass in Jackson tends to be a little more
highbrow, with mainly classical music. The Festival
Orchestra has been described as “one of the world’s
great orchestras” as it’s made up of some of the top
professional orchestra musicians from around the
country; they play Jackson Hole during July and
August. The summer schedule consists of over 40
concerts. |
